Above is a photo of the inside of McAlister’s Deli, and I haven’t been to one of these in years. My work crew and I many years ago used to frequent this place (diff location) a lot, and I pretty much over that full span of time drank my weight in sweet tea from there.
It’s funny how things come full circle – my work crew then were all friends and enjoyed hanging out with each other. My next gig after that was with a crew that were the exact opposite – even daily team meetings were uncomfortable and always with a slight twinge of tense. Following that, things were better but full team comradery was still very much lacking – at least in my immediate group; and it wasn’t until working at my current job that I got back some of the lighthearted, easy-going, enjoy-each-others’-company that I inadvertent gave up a full decade and a half ago, and still miss to this day.
Being back in McAlister’s just reminded me of how interesting life – and aging – can be, and how blessed it is to appreciate and enjoy the people you spend at least 40+ hours with each week. So with that in mind, a well-deserved cheers to my work team, a decent bunch of nerds… ??
